The National Water Hygiene (Blue) card is part of the scheme which has been developed at the request of Water UK.
Any person working on restricted operations sites must be in possession of a National Water Hygiene Card.
This includes water main works on public roads.
National Water Hygiene Card training consists of a three hour presentation explaining the dangers and risks which are associated with the water industry, followed by a medical questionnaire.
Any person operating where they may come into contact with partially or fully treated drinking water needs to hold a national water hygiene card.
The water company or the principal contractor will ask to see their card before commencing work on the site.
Any person working on restricted operations sites such as water treatment plants,service reservoirs, pumping stations, water main repairs must hold a current national water hygiene card.
